Hello, my name is Paul Bausemer, Founder of The Permaculturist. What draws me to Compost Tea is the broad discipline of Sustainability Studies that I received throughout my Bachelors of Arts Degree at Colorado Mountain College and experience managing horticultural farms and ranches throughout the State of California since 2012. My time and experience as a Laboratory Technician in the Environmental Science department at Emory University, helps me provide my clients with cutting edge soil science analysis. I am a certified Sustainability Excellence Associate with the ISSP (International Society for Sustainability Professionals) which can be described as a third-party verification and credential that demonstrates a competency of core sustainability concepts and best practices developed through global collaboration by sustainability practitioners. This certification comes through the World Green Building Council.
Wherever possible I strive to integrate research training, field techniques and laboratory methods into my business with the goal of providing the skills and expertise necessary to provide clients with meaningful scientific analysis, environmental stewardship, food security, natural resource management and farming practices that promote soil health for soil carbon sequestration.
I recommend practicing minimizing waste, optimizing material use to maximize profit margins and ultimately reducing the cost to the consumer without compromising the quality. The action of compost tea application has the potential to "nudge" businesses, residences and farms toward more sustainable behaviors by reducing capital expenditures and increase revenue, in turn widening operating margins by using assets more efficiently. This initiative provides an opportunity to participate in reducing the life cycle cost of production in a push toward zero waste by creating more B-Corp certifications in which production (stocks) and consumption (flows) can remain in a state of dynamic equilibrium. Leveraging a move towards the Biden administration’s goal for 2050 into a carbon neutral society through providing Carbon-Credits to compost tea producers and consumers.
