Hello, my name is Paul Bausemer, Founder of The Permaculturist.   

I have over a decade of professional experience in regenerative agriculture and permaculture. I also have professional technical laboratory experience conducting soil science experiments and engineering systems for soil analysis. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability Studies. I am a certified Sustainability Excellence Associate verified through the Green Building Council Inc., a credential held by very few who attempt to achieve it, demonstrating competency in core sustainability concepts. I am a master’s degree candidate in Sustainability Studies at Harvard Extension School, having achieved certifications in corporate sustainability, carbon accounting, and circular economics. Additionally, I serve as Deputy Director of Student Affairs for the Harvard Extension Student Association.

I am currently writing a master’s thesis that integrates research training, field techniques, and lab methods to measure microbial contributions to soil and their correlation with soil carbon persistence. This will help researchers evaluate regenerative agricultural practices, quantify soil carbon sequestration, and provide meaningful scientific analysis to enhance soil health. The implications of this research will offer scalable solutions to broader global issues such as biodiversity loss, biogeochemical flows, chemical pollution, and climate change.
